James Beattie was left delighted as his side sealed a second successive win over derby rivals Morecambe with a 2-1 victory
The former England international said he was proud of his players spirit and passion after Peter Murphy's goal, two minutes into added time, earned them the points and extended Stanley's unbeaten run over Morecambe to 13 games.
Beattie said: "I've been saying for some time our performances have deserved better and I feel that the two wins this week have been fully deserved.
"We have closed the gap on those above us and there is a new confidence around the dressing room that we need to capitalise on. We showed a lot of spirit today especially after they equalised.
"Morecambe got on top after that for a short spell and the Stanley of old may have buckled but we stayed strong and fought to the end and I am delighted with that.
"It was a niggly game but the lads stayed tall and showed their pride for the badge and that is something I am really pleased about and need to build on."
