Tisdale: We got it all wrong

Paul Tisdale felt Exeter contributed to their own downfall as they fell to a surprise 3-0 defeat at home to Hartlepool.

Goals from Jack Baldwin, Luke James and the impressive Jack Compton did the damage for the Pools, who made it a hat-trick of away wins in a week after successes at Mansfield and Sheffield United. "We were poor. I think it's one of those where we move on to the next game," Tisdale said. "I have not seen us outclassed that much in a game of football for a long time. "I have seen teams beat us at home before, but I have not seen teams beat us that well. We've done that many times away from home with that type of performance, but we have never had it done to us. "I am sore about it, but I am also very objective and pragmatic. Our performance was spectacularly wrong, but we weren't that far from playing well. Sometimes it is a fine line between playing well and playing as badly as we did here. "It is about unity and doing things together at the same time. They had a very simple but effective and well-structured way of playing and were very good at it. We got it all wrong, we didn't get that synergy and do things together at the same time. "Our space on the pitch was hugely wrong and then you get into a situation where you can't get close enough to the ball to affect the game. We came off on the end of a really poor performance and we were so ineffective."
