York have signed Northern Ireland international Josh Carson until the end of the season, subject to Football League ratification.
The 20-year-old midfielder, recently released by Ipswich, had a spell on loan with the Minstermen last season, which was cut short when he broke a bone in his foot.
York boss Nigel Worthington told the club's official website: "Josh has got experience at Championship level and is a young international player.
"He came in last year when we were having a tough time at the club and I felt he did very well and worked very hard for the team prior to the injury when he had to go back to Ipswich.
"So when there was an opportunity there to pick him up until the end of the season I was very keen to try and get him and delighted that we've managed to acquire his services".
Carson, who has represented his country at every level from under-16s and has four senior caps, is expected to go straight into Worthington's squad for Saturday's home league game against Mansfield.
