Ardley salutes classic away win

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley was proud of his team as they kept up their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win at York.

The Dons took the lead midway through the first half through Michael Smith before the striker netted his second of the game with a simple finish to take all three points back to the capital. AFC Wimbledon now sit third in the League Two table after six matches and Ardley is hoping his side can remain consistent in the coming weeks after producing an assured team performance. "It was a classic away victory," he said. "We talked to the players during the week and we knew this wasn't going to be a free-flowing game of football so we knew we had to do the ugly side first. "We came here and put in a solid team performance and I'm not going to dress it up as anything other than that. "We limited them to one chance at the end but other than that I couldn't see them scoring. The boys put their shift in, I thought we lacked a bit of tempo and energy in the first half but second half we upped that and I thought we were comfortable. "It's nice to look at the table at present but it's just about keeping that consistency and getting the points. I'm very pleased at the moment, last week was a very good performance and this week we've produced a solid away performance."
