Rochdale manager Keith Hill said agents are wasting their time trying to fix-up trials for their clients at Spotland.
Hill, who returned to take charge at Rochdale for a second time in January after being sacked by Barnsley, rebuilt his squad during the close season and is particular about the type of player he wants on board.
"We're developing and it's encouraging," he said after his side turned in arguably their best display of the season when drawing at home against Chesterfield at the weekend.
"I look at our plan and I'm really happy with it.
"The amount of agents that I've had one the phone asking me if I want to sign this player or that player.
"But I just don't see the point of any agent phoning up to recommend players because I don't feel as though I'd be doing the players justice.
"I've got to trust them and they've got to trust me with respect to our development as a team and as a football club for the future."
