Mansfield Town have spent an undisclosed fee to sign striker Ollie Palmer from non-league side Havant & Waterlooville.
The Football League new boys claim there was plenty of competition for Palmer, who was reportedly watched by Chelsea 18 months ago.
The 21-year-old scored 25 goals for Havant last season to finish as the top scorer in the Conference South and he has now been handed a crack at League Two.
Palmer is determined to make the most of his opportunity at Mansfield, who start life back in the league ranks away to Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
"I'll 'run myself into the ground' and will work really hard for the team," Palmer told the club's official website.
"Mansfield have given me the opportunity to perform in the league, which is something I have always dreamt about."
