Sky Sports understands Port Vale are poised to sign Cheltenham Town forward Kaid Mohamed.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at Cheltenham and he has turned down a new deal at Whaddon Road.
A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in Mohamed, but Vale are on the verge of winning the race for his signature.
Port Vale boss Micky Adams is keen to bolster his attacking options as he prepares for life in League One next season and he has moved quickly to bring in the Welshman.
Former Swindon and AFC Wimbledon man Mohamed is believed to have agreed a two-year deal at Vale Park.
