Keith Hill believes the initial signs are encouraging as he looks to establish a nucleus of young players at Rochdale.
The Dale boss handed first-team debuts to D'Arcy O'Connor, Scott Tanser and Joe Bunney in the 1-0 final-day win over Plymouth Argyle in League Two last weekend, with striker Bunney coming off the bench to head in the only goal.
"They've been training with us since I've come into the building and that is part of the process and development," Hill told the club's official website.
"They're an integral part of my thinking with respect to next season and I feel as though with a little bit of encouragement and a little bit of trust they'll be ready.
"These players won't just be squad fillers, they will be contributors to next season. They are talented players and they'll be good acquisitions for Rochdale Football Club."
