Image: Alan Goodall: Looking for Fleetwood to enjoy a productive end to the season

Fleetwood's Alan Goodall discusses adjusting to League life, new bosses and ones to watch.

As part of Sky Sports' League Two spotlight, Chris Burton catches up with Fleetwood Town defender Alan Goodall.

The 2012/13 campaign is about to enter the final straight, with promotion pushes and relegation battles now in full swing. Here at Sky Sports, we continue to take you to the very heart of the Football League, with our Spotlight features intended to give you a greater insight into the clubs and players that keep us on the edge of our seats. We are hoping to bring you the views and thoughts of a representative from each of the 72 teams over the course of the season, with those involved asked to give their take on the division they compete in, the club that pays their wages and those we should all be keeping an eye on. Next in our hot seat is Fleetwood's Alan Goodall, with the experienced defender taking time out to discuss adjusting to League life, new bosses and ones to watch with Chris Burton . You've had your worst run of the season at just the wrong time, but you still have plenty of time to put things right don't you? Of course, luckily enough. Hopefully we have turned the corner now after getting a half-decent result against Exeter on Saturday. Maybe we could have won it, but at least there is games left there for us to push on and hopefully we can get a good placing in the play-off positions. Can you put your finger on what has gone wrong over the last few weeks? Is it just a case of a long, hard season starting to take its toll? You get blips in a season don't you? Unfortunately for us we have had a blip at a bad time. Hopefully we have turned the corner. We are working on things all the time and hopefully we can push on now and have a good go. People have to realise don't they that this is the club's first season in the Football League and not expect miracles? That's it. First time in the league, plus changing managers halfway through probably doesn't help. But I think the new manager has come in young and fresh and is full of ideas. Hopefully we can move forward with that. There was a lot of expectation on you heading into the season, but League Two is a tough division isn't it and you can't just walk through it? I think everyone was looking at what Crawley did the season before and people were saying, 'hang on a minute, if they can do it I don't see why we can't'. But it isn't like that. There is a lot of hard work you have to put into it. We had a lot of new faces come in over the summer as well, so that disrupts things when you are trying to stick with a team and a lot of lads come in. There has been a lot of change happen in the last season, but hopefully that will settle down soon and we will have a good go. Hopefully we can still push on this season but, if not, we will have a go next season. Of the fresh faces that have arrived, there have been quite a few experienced lads drafted in. They have a big role to play don't they? Of course. They have been there and done it so it is great for the lads that are young and are just starting their careers, for them boys to come in and help everyone out is brilliant. For the manager, Graham Alexander, this is his first full-time managerial post, so he is learning as he goes along as much as everybody else isn't he? Yeah, he is. He is learning every day, as we are as players. He is fresh with his ideas and with his coaching style. For me personally, I think it's great for the club. Hopefully it will turn around and we can get some results and push on. You have a seven-point gap to make up at the moment, but that looks a lot more doable doesn't it when you consider that you still have a game in hand? That's it. We have Accrington and then we have got Plymouth on Saturday - two bottom teams, but they will be fighting for their lives to stay in the league. By no means is it going to be an easy task, so we will have to be strong with what we are doing and concentrate all the way through both games and hopefully come out with six points. On a personal level, are you happy enough with how the season has gone? I'm happy now with how it is finishing off. At the start of the season I was in and out, I wasn't a regular first team player, but now, coming to the end of the season, I am playing a lot more. I want to be playing week in, week out, so for me it's good at the minute. We just need the results to go with it. Who at Fleetwood has impressed you this season? Who do you feel deserves plenty of praise for their efforts so far? There is a few players. There is a great bunch of lads there. There are a lot of young lads coming through as well. A couple of outfield players, like Junior Brown, Shaun Beeley, and then Scotty Davies deserves a lot of credit in goal. There are a few lads there coming through at the minute that have done well this season. There are a lot of other lads, but as a three they are ones to watch for the future. Is it all about one final push now, with your season having boiled down to a 10-game mini-league? We have got 10 games left now and it's all or nothing. These next couple of games are really important to us. We can either give up and just see the season through or we can knuckle down and have a really good go at it over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully that will be the case and we can cement a play-off place.
