Ben Everson will make an unexpectedly quick return to York next Tuesday when the club plays host to Gateshead's clash with Kidderminster.

Gateshead have been forced to switch seven of their remaining home Blue Square Premier Division fixtures this season due to the poor state of their pitch at the International Stadium and staged last Tuesday's defeat to Wrexham at Hartlepool's Victoria Park.

Middlesbrough-born Everson, who arrived at York in January following a spell in Iceland, joined Gateshead on loan for a month last week in time to make his debut in Friday night's 4-0 win at Macclesfield.

Gateshead chairman Graham Wood said: "We're extremely grateful to York City for offering to stage our game against Kidderminster on Tuesday. As with Hartlepool, it is a great gesture.

"Obviously York is further away from Tyneside, but it's the closest ground we could get that satisfied Blue Square Bet Premier standard.

"Like Hartlepool, Bootham Crescent is a well-appointed football stadium with a good playing surface and hopefully some York fans will also come along to the game."
