Amond hails Beattie influence

Accrington striker Padraig Amond is relishing the prospect of playing alongside James Beattie for the remainder of the season.

Beattie penned an extension to his player-coach contract at the Store First Stadium earlier this month and, with four goals to his name in 11 appearances, Amond believes the 34-year-old is proving to be a valuable influence for the League Two strugglers. "It's a great boost for us all," he said. "Obviously Beats is top class - it's been shown with a couple of the goals he's scored. "He's a great lad to have around the dressing room as well and he's been a great positive influence on the team. "The results haven't been great recently but the experience that he's got is going to help us and I think that could be a deciding factor for us in the season." Not that Amond is unaccustomed to pairing up with international talent following his time with Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira. "He's actually the third international strike partner I've had," he added. "The others are Nelson Oliveira and Pizzi from Portugal, who are both with Deportivo now."
