Shrimps leave Bentley purring

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was full of praise for his side after they recorded their best home win of the season against Barnet.

Early first-half goals from Kevin Ellison and Andy Fleming put the Shrimps in charge before a pair of late penalties from Richard Brodie saw off the resurgent Bees. Bentley said: "I thought we were fantastic overall against a Barnet side who have been improving in recent weeks. "They hadn't conceded a goal for four games before today but we got at them straight from the off and scored two in the first 10 minutes and looked superb. "We got a bit sloppy then and found it hard to pass the ball around as we would have liked as the pitch became a bit heavy and I had to have a few words at half-time to make sure we didn't fall off the pace and let them back into the game. "They took those words on board and got the two penalties at the end to make it look more convincing and I'm delighted with the three points."
