Ardley: Got to get basics right

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley has urged his side to get back to basics following an abject display at Exeter on Tuesday.

The Dons head back to York, the scene of last weekend's 1-1 draw in the FA Cup, on Saturday having put in their poorest performance since Ardley took over in a 2-0 defeat at St James Park. Ardley made his players sit through the DVD of the match and has demanded an immediate response. "If we are going to put in consistent performances and rise up the table, then we have to get the absolute basics right," he said. "There has to be hard work and desire, apart from quality and the rest of the things that you need. "At the top end we were not dynamic and at the other end their two centre-forwards caused us problems. Whatever you do in between those areas, you are going to be struggling if that's the case."
