Boss Martin Allen described Gillingham's 4-1 hammering of in-form Burton at Priestfield on Saturday as 'magical'.
Defenders Tom Flanagan and Matt Fish grabbed their first goals of the season to put Allen's side in control of the League Two game at half-time.
Zander Diamond pulled one back for the visitors before Myles Weston and Joe Martin struck in quick succession to put the result beyond doubt.
Allen, who is convinced he is building something special on and off the field at the Priestfield Stadium, was delighted with his side's performance.
"That was fantastic and what a magical afternoon. It was great to watch, we played great football. Burton hadn't lost in eight games; they're a really good team, so that was a decent result for us," said Allen.
"Full credit to the players, they did really well. I didn't do anything, they got on with it. They work as a team, they play as a team and everybody plays their part. They're receptive, they want to learn, they're hungry and they're a pleasure to work with.
"It takes time to build a fan base, it doesn't happen overnight. I've had some stupid letters, people complaining about this and that. It takes time to evolve and the people that came are our salesmen and women. They can go and tell their friends that there's a nice vibe at Gillingham."
