Port Vale's League Two fixture away at Northampton next month has been brought forward an hour.
The game at Sixfields on October 27 will now kick-off at 2pm to avoid a direct clash with a Northampton Saints home game that begins at 3pm.
"We understand the frustration felt by supporters of both clubs and the local residents and businesses when supporters from both games are all looking to leave the area at the same time," said Northampton's facilities manager Avril Spraggon.
"While we will continue to work with the Saints on their traffic management system to build on the experience of last weekend, we feel bringing our kick-off forward an hour is a common sense solution in the best interests of all concerned.
"The club are grateful to the Football League and to Port Vale for agreeing to this change."
