Southend manager Paul Sturrock heaped praise on his substitutes after they helped his side fight back to beat Exeter 2-1 at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers seemed to be heading for a League Two home defeat on Saturday when Scott Bennett put the visitors in front at the start of the second half.
But super subs Barry Corr and Freddy Eastwood both netted in the final 12 minutes and that delighted Sturrock.
"They both went on and did well to help us win the game," he said.
"It was particularly sweet for Barry to score because he's been out injured for 17 months and the plan wasn't really to include him.
"But being greedy and wanting to get back in the game I threw him on because I knew he was capable of getting on the end of things and that's how it proved.
"We used Freddy in a slightly deeper role and it seemed to suit him quite well.
"He got better the longer he went on and it was great to see him get the winner."
