Exeter boss Paul Tisdale retained a positive outlook despite going down to a late 2-1 loss at Southend in League Two on Saturday.
The Grecians seemed to be heading for victory when Scott Bennett put the them in front at the start of the second half.
But the replacement strikers Barry Corr and Freddy Eastwood both came off the bench to score in the final 12 minutes for the hosts.
"If you look at this objectively then I think you have to say we played well," said Tisdale.
"Of course we're disappointed to have two let goals in, including one from a corner and we're frustrated to have lost the game.
"However, looking at the bigger picture it was another good display and if we keep on playing like this then we will pick up more points.
"That doesn't mean much right now but I can't be too critical of the players because I thought they put in a good performance."
