Wycombe manager Gary Waddock was pleased with the display, but felt they lacked concentration in their 3-2 defeat at Exeter.
Goals from Gareth Ainsworth and Dean Morgan had twice given the Chairboys the lead, but Danny Coles' back-heeled finish earned the hosts their victory.
Waddock's men have now lost all three of their away games since an opening-day victory at York, and the manager says his players must learn to maintain their focus.
He said: "We switched off and probably lost concentration a couple of times during the course of the game which has cost us.
"In many ways we should have got something from the game. The performance was very good, we got ourselves into good positions.
"We have just got to keep going, it's as simple as that. Not feel sorry for ourselves, just keep going because at some stage it is going to turn."
