Carayol keen on Pirates stay

Mustapha Carayol has put his rumoured departure on hold after revealing he still wants to achieve promotion with Bristol Rovers next season.

The Gambian winger, whose impressive performances for the League Two under-achievers this term have drawn the attention of a handful of Championship clubs, still has another year of his contract to run. And while there may be plenty of interest in the 22-year-old during the close-season, Carayol has stressed he is happy playing his football at the Memorial Stadium. He told the Bristol Evening Post: "I'm like a little kid when I get out on the pitch because I enjoy it so much. The gaffer goes mad at me for trying one or two things, but that's just me - hopefully I can keep pleasing with my performances and be part of a side that's going for promotion next season. "I'm looking forward to it. I have got on well with the manager since he came here. He has filled me with confidence and I think that's showing in my performances. "Hopefully it will carry on and I can have a good pre-season - which I'm not looking forward to - and then a good season to get promoted."
