Balkestein laments tough loss

AFC Wimbledon's on-loan defender Pim Balkestein labelled Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Accrington the worst of his career.

It was 24-year-old Balkestein's penultimate game for the Dons. "I think it was the worst defeat of my life," the Dutchman told the club website. "We had 70 per cent of the possession and so many chances, but it did not go for us. It was a terrible feeling and we had to win this game today. "But we cannot make any excuses and our performance was not good enough. We have to put the ball in the back of the net and I missed a great chance with a header - I had to make that." Balkestein will return to Brentford after Friday's home match against Rotherham.
