Anyinsah makes case for defence

A huge defensive improvement has been the catalyst to Bristol Rovers' recent upturn in form, according to Joe Anyinsah.

After going winless for eight League Two matches leading up to the dismissal of former manager Paul Buckle on January 3, the Pirates have claimed victories from four of their last seven league outings to steer well clear of danger. And striker Anyinsah suggested that the stability new boss Mark McGhee has brought out of his backline has been the pivotal factor in Rovers' steady push up the league table. "We look like more of a solid team," he said. "We're a lot more organised in our shape and the manager is clear with each player on how he wants us to play. "Now when we win the ball back we are able to express ourselves a bit more and I think that's helped. "We've got together more as a team and you can see it's working."
