The Accrington board are in no rush to appoint a full-time manager, according to chief executive Rob Heys.

Caretaker-manager Leam Richardson led the side to a 4-3 win over Gillingham in his only game in charge since former boss John Coleman joined Rochdale.

And, though there have been many applicants for the vacancy at the Crown Ground, Heys stressed the club's board will take their time finding Coleman's replacement.

"Richardson has been the model of professionalism since he stepped up and all we want is for him and the team to continue our success," said Heys.

"Speculation is inevitable but it is part of the process for us to assess our options and we will provide more information to supporters as it becomes available."

Club president Peter Marsden backed up his colleague's stance, saying: "Perhaps this is to be expected, but we are in no rush to do anything right now. Leam deserves to be given a fair crack of the whip."
