Tully primed for survival battle

Exeter are not about to let half a decade of hard work go to waste with relegation from League One, insists defender Steve Tully.

The 31-year-old has been a big part of the Grecians' squads that jumped through the divisions from non-league to within touching distance of the play-offs last season. However, this term life has been a little bit more difficult at St James' Park, and Exeter currently sit 18th in the table - just three points above the drop zone. But Tully says the players will fight to make sure the preserve their League One status. "We worked very hard to get to League One and it's our intention to stay there," he said. "Last season we got pretty close to making the play-offs and perhaps the fans' expectations for this season were increased because of that. "For whatever reason it hasn't quite gone our way so far this season but there's still a lot of time left. "We want to be finishing as high up the table as we can and we're only looking upwards and forwards at the moment."
