Sky Sports understands Swindon Town defender Nathan Thompson is hoping to win a loan move in order to secure regular first-team football.
The 20-year-old has found opportunities restricted this season under manager Paolo Di Canio due to the form of captain Paul Caddis.
Thompson has made three appearances and has now grown frustrated at a lack of action at the County Ground.
Relegation-threatened Hereford are one of the early front-runners for the youngster's signature.
Swindon are currently battling for promotion to League One and are three points behind third-placed Southend United.
