Brown close to Pirates return

Bristol Rovers midfielder Wayne Brown has revealed he is edging back to full fitness following a stress fracture in his right foot.

Brown has been out of action since suffering the knock in the 3-1 defeat to Cheltenham on October 1, and is not expected to return to first-team affairs until late January. However, after such a lengthy time on the sidelines, the 23-year-old is glad to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. He told the Bristol Evening Post: "I had an Aircast boot on for a couple of months but had it taken off a couple of weeks ago, which was a big relief because it had been really frustrating not being able to do anything. "My foot really seems to be progressing now. I have to see the specialist again around January 10 and hopefully then he will be able to give me the all-clear. "I've been out for nearly three months now but I'm glad that I can see an end to it. Our physio Phil Kite has been great, although he's had to hold me back because I have been trying to push on and get back as soon as possible. He knows what he is talking about so I know I just have to hang on and be patient."
