Former captain and caretaker boss Stuart Campbell has been released from his contract with League Two outfit Bristol Rovers.

The 34-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the end of the summer and has not been able to agree a new deal. Chairman Nick Higgs told the club's official website: "I would like to thank Stuart for all his commitment and hard work during his seven and a half years with the club. "He has been a great servant to the club as a player and a captain, and he was the one who stepped up to try and save us from relegation last season. "Everyone at the club would like to wish him great success in his future career as both a player and a coach." Meanwhile, Rovers full-back Michael Boateng has joined Blue Square Bet South side Sutton on a one-month loan.
