Esajas reveals frustration

Dutch winger Etienne Esajas has admitted his two-month absence from first-team football at Swindon was difficult to take.

Esajas had not featured for the Wiltshire side since August 30 before he emerged as a second-half substitute in the Robins' midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy penalty shoot-out victory over AFC Wimbledon. The Dutchman delivered a sparkling cameo which lit up an otherwise poor clash on Tuesday - something he hopes caught the eye of manager Paolo Di Canio. He told the Swindon Advertiser: "It's been hard. No-one enjoys not playing and not being in the team every week. I know my own ability and I know if I keep working hard that some day it will pay off. "It is all about confidence but I have never lost my confidence during the time I was not playing. I just want to work hard and continue playing for Swindon. "Hopefully, I'll be in the frame for Saturday but it's up to the manager, but it is also up to me to show him what I am about. If he feels I did well on Tuesday, we will see what happens, but I am ready."
