Williams blow for Daggers

Dagenham striker Sam Williams will undergo knee surgery this week which is likely to sidelined him for up to eight weeks.

Williams, who tops the club's scoring charts with three goals in all competitions, was forced off in the closing stages of the 2-1 win over Crewe nine days ago. A knee specialist will provide a full diagnosis on Monday but, either way, the Daggers will be without the forward for the long-term. Manager John Still told the club's official website: "He's definitely done his cartilage and it could be ligament damage as well, they want the swelling to go down before they make a decision on that. "He'll see the specialist on Monday and hopefully have his operation on Tuesday or Wednesday. "We'll have to wait and see but if it's just cartilage we're looking at six maybe eight weeks, if there is ligament damage it's going to be longer."
