Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still conceded his injury-hit side were second best after seeing them go down 2-1 at Cheltenham.
Cheltenham striker Jimmy Spencer fired home from 15 yards in the 48th minute after Dagenham's Jon Nurse had cancelled out home skipper Alan Bennett's header before the break.
Still said: "I've no complaints about the result, Cheltenham were the better team. The first half was pretty even, without a lot of chances at either end.
"Their second half goal came too early from our point of view. It gave them a bit of a lift which we never recovered from and I thought from then on they were the better team."
Still added: "I could use a million excuses at the moment, with seven or eight players out injured, but they would just be excuses.
"Because of that, other players are getting an opportunity of a first-team place and they have to take that opportunity."
