Madjo debut pleases Westley

Stevenage manager Graham Westley was impressed by striker Guy Madjo on his League One debut against Carlisle.

Madjo, 27, has been working his way back to match fitness after joining Boro in the summer and made his first appearance for the club at Brunton Park last Saturday, replacing the injured Jennison Myrie-Williams at half-time. With Chris Beardsley, Darius Charles and Ben May all working their way back from injury, the Cameroonian has put himself in contention for another run-out when Scunthorpe visit the Lamex Stadium at the weekend. "To be fair to Jennison, he tweaked his hamstring towards the end of the first half so it was an enforced change," Westley said. "But I have to say Guy did himself a lot of credit. "He held the ball up, he worked very well in tight areas and carved out a couple of good moments, particularly one where he got to the byline and pulled it back and we just didn't get on the end of it. "He made a difference, he made an impact and it was nice for him to get his first minutes in a Stevenage shirt."
