Bristol Rovers winger Mustapha Carayol hopes his hat-trick for the reserve squad has put him in contention for the first-team.
The 21-year-old has only made two starts since joining from Lincoln in the summer but three goals in a 4-4 draw with Brentford's reserves on Tuesday - with Paul Buckle in attendance - will have done his chances no harm.
He told the Bristol Evening Post: "Obviously, I've been disappointed that I've not been playing, but I'll bide my time and wait. Hopefully, when an opportunity does come, I'll take it.
"All I can do is keep working hard - I'll always do my best in whatever game I'm playing in.
"Obviously, there are going to be times when things don't come off for me, but, thankfully, today [Tuesday] they did.
"I've never scored a hat-trick in a first-team game, although I've had a few before for the reserves. It was nice to get some goals and also a good workout in terms of fitness."
