Manager Dario Gradi thought Crewe's second-half display warranted a point after they went down 1-0 to Burton on Tuesday.
Gradi acknowledged that Albion were the better side in the first half, but felt the Alex improved after the break.
"We didn't perform very well in the first half. Burton were a lot brighter than us and they passed the ball better than us," said Gradi.
"We played better in the second half, in fact, I think we might have edged it.
"But we still had a hard time in midfield. We got the ball into a few gaps but we still couldn't put anybody in on goal. I thought we played as well as they did second half without being able to make chances."
Gradi added: "I'm a bit short of options at the moment and I thought it showed at times. Ashley Westwood was taken ill overnight and he was a big loss for us, but that's part and parcel of football and you just have to get on with it."
