Burton's on-loan defender Tom Parkes fractured his ankle against Port Vale and is expected to be out until the new year.

The 19-year-old, who spent two loan spells at the Pirelli Stadium last season before committing to a further six-month loan spell this summer, will return to Leicester to begin his recuperation. Parkes was stretchered off in second-half stoppage-time in a game which ended 1-1 and an X-ray revealed the extent of the damage. A statement on the Brewers' website read: "The on-loan defender will now return to parent club Leicester City and will undergo an operation before beginning his rehabilitation work. "As yet there is no definite length of time that Parkes will be out for although it is thought to be unlikely he will return before his six-month loan deal comes to an end with the Brewers in January."
