Holdsworth: We were second best

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth admitted his side lacked quality after they slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Northampton.

Cobblers defender Ashley Westwood, who returned to his former club this summer, grabbed the only goal of the game when he powered home a header inside two minutes. "We lacked a little bit of quality and I think we might have been a little bit nervous in the first half and started the game as badly as we possibly could," said Holdsworth. "I think we deserved something from the game though. First half I put a line through it but second half I thought we were excellent. "Second half our passing play was ten times better, we hit the post twice and on another day we could have had two penalties so I am disappointed overall. "I think we deserved at least a point, but you don't always get what you deserve and on another day we would have had something but it doesn't work like that."
