Burton Albion have signed striker Justin Richards from League Two rivals Port Vale on a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old forward arrives at the Pirelli Stadium on a free transfer, despite having 12 months remaining on his contract at Vale. Richards is delighted to have joined Paul Peschisolido's side but is bemused by his departure from Vale Park. "I more or less expected to stay there (at Vale Park)," he told the Burton Mail. "I came back for pre-season training ready to get my head down and play again. "So, I'm not the person to ask what happened at the Vale - someone else can answer that better. "But we parted on good terms, myself and the manager."
