Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has signed former Derby midfielder Arnaud Mendy on a one-year deal.

Mendy joined Derby from French side FC Rouen for a nominal fee in 2008 and became a regular in the club's reserve side which won the Central League title in 2009/10. He had a spell on loan at Grimsby and a three-month stay at Tranmere last season. Mendy also made his international debut for Guinea-Bissau in a 3-1 win over Gambia in February. He said: "I want to play games. I spent time at Derby not getting involved and now I want to get into the side and stay there, and I want to help the club finish as high as possible. "I want to help take the club up if we can."
