Image: Sawyer: Faces groin operation

Bristol Rovers duo Gary Sawyer and Ellis Harrison face lengthy spells on the sidelines after suffering pre-season injuries.

Sawyer had been forced to sit out the 2-0 victory over Bath City, although it has since transpired that he may require surgery to rectify a groin problem. Manager Paul Buckle told Rovers' official website: "Gary has a groin injury, something he felt at the end of last season and he will be looked at by a specialist this week. "He's a good player, one of the senior pros here, and I'd like to get the problem looked at very quickly. The worst case scenario is that he might need an operation." Youngster Ellis Harrison could be sidelined for up to two months after slipping and breaking a bone in his right foot. The striker was due join the Wales Under-17 squad for the Four Nations tournament in Sweden, but will now miss the competition.
