Bristol Rovers have agreed a deal to sign Scott McGleish and have also released Dominic Blizzard.

Buckle feels veteran striker is a 'fantastic signing' for next season

Bristol Rovers have agreed a deal to sign Scott McGleish following his departure from Leyton Orient and have also released Dominic Blizzard. McGleish spent the past two seasons with Orient, but was let go at the end of the last campaign and will now finalise a move to the Memorial Stadium subject to passing a medical. New Pirates boss Paul Buckle is happy to have recruited the 37-year-old and is confident McGleish is still capable of scoring goals on a regular basis. "Scott is a very experienced striker and he's still as fit as a fiddle," Buckle told the club's official website.

"I don't think there are too many people in the game who aren't aware of his qualities. "He's scored goals wherever he's played, is a top professional, and I'm really looking forward to working with him. "I think he is a fantastic signing for us. He's been a winner with most of the clubs he's played for and will definitely add something to our squad. "To score 18 goals in League One last season was a fantastic return and I think he will complement the players we have already brought in as well as the one or two others I hope will be joining us." Meanwhile, Blizzard's contract at Rovers has been terminated by mutual consent after the midfielder made 46 appearances during two years at the club.
