Former England international makes Fir Park switch

Motherwell have bolstered their attacking options with the addition of former England international Francis Jeffers. The 30-year-old former Everton and Arsenal marksman joins after leaving Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets. Jeffers, who scored on his solitary England appearance against Australia in 2003, had a spell in the SPL with Rangers in 2005. He failed to score in eight appearances before joining Blackburn and later Sheffield Wednesday. Jeffers mustered just five league goals for The Owls from 54 appearances for the South Yorkshire side. Jeffers could now make his Well debut against former club Rangers in Saturday's SPL clash at Ibrox.

Excellent player

"Francis is an excellent player and someone we think will score goals in the Scottish Premier League," said manager Stuart McCall. "We hope Franny can get back to some of his early career form. "There is absolutely no doubting his ability and in the conversations I've had with him, he seems really hungry for this challenge."
