Bantams pleased to see boss turn down Magpies offer

Bradford City midfielder Lee Bullock is delighted to see manager Peter Taylor remain at the club after turning down the chance to join Newcastle. The Bantams boss has steered the League Two outfit to the brink of the play-offs after a difficult start to the campaign. Newcastle were hoping to lure the former England U21 manager to St. James' Park as Alan Pardew's assistant, with that position yet to be filled. However, Taylor has opted to stay on at Valley Parade and Bullock feels that decision speaks volumes about their promotion credentials this season. "For a League Two team to keep someone that was offered the chance to join a Premier League side with all the facilities and structure that comes with such an opportunity just proves that, although sometimes it seems we are driving him mad, he must be enjoying it at the same time," he told skysports.com. "He must see something in the group of players he has here and fancy his chances at making something happen here.

Shell-shocked

"It is a huge boost because we were left a bit shell-shocked after the game yesterday (Monday) when he told us about Newcastle's approach and we weren't sure whether he would be staying or not. "He was gutted telling us, but to hear the news that he is staying today has given everyone a lift." The Bantams triumphed over promotion rivals Bury on Monday thanks to a stunning volley from wing wizard Omar Daley, and Bullock has hailed the Jamaican's audacious effort. "You never know what he is going to do and when I saw him line up that volley I wasn't sure where it was going to go to be honest, but typical Omar he smashed it into the roof of the net," he said. "It was a great finish and it was a good job he scored it because he needs to do something special to get away with wearing those terrible boots."
