Henderson makes U's switch

Colchester manager John Ward has completed the signing of Watford striker Liam Henderson on a short-term loan.

The 20-year-old will link up with the League One side until January as Hornets boss Malky Mackay aims to give the youngster more first-team experience. Henderson is yet to start a match for the Hornets but has made 21 substitute appearances since making his debut in August 2008. "Liam's a young, hungry player, is six foot plus and will add great competition to the squad," U's boss John Ward told his club's official website. "We have been without Steven Gillespie and Ian Henderson missed out on Saturday, so it was good to add to our striking options. "He won't just provide competition for David Mooney and Kayode Odejayi centrally, he can operate in the wider positions as well."
