Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman is confident that out-of-contract defender Leam Richardson will sign a new deal shortly.
The former Blackpool defender is still in talks with Stanley over a new deal and has expressed a wish to stay with the League Two club.
Coleman is desperate to strengthen his squad before the start of the new season and is optimistic of hanging on to Richardson.
"I am hopeful that Leam will stay with us, but you never know in football until pen is put to paper," Coleman told skysports.com.
"He is still with us, which tells me that he would like to stay here because he would have probably left by now if he wanted to go elsewhere, but talks are still ongoing regarding a new deal.
"We need to have a bigger squad in place when the season begins, so we would like to bring quite a few more in, but we've been trying to do that all summer.
"We are in talks with a few clubs and players, but by the end of the month I would like to have my squad formalised if possible."
