Simpson impressed by trialist in pre-season

Macclesfield Town boss Gary Simpson hopes to agree a deal for Matt Hamshaw after offering the on-trial midfielder a contract. Hamshaw, who is looking for a new club after leaving Notts County, has impressed in recent games for the Silkmen including last weekend's 2-1 victory over a Manchester City XI. Simpson would be more than happy to keep him on board at Moss Rose and is now waiting to see if Hamshaw will accept Macclesfield's offer. "We're trying to bring him in and have made the lad an offer and we are talking to him about him coming here," Simpson told the club's official website. "I think he likes it here and has enjoyed his two games he's got a lot of quality and, although he tired a bit at the end (against Manchester City), there's no doubting that he is a good player and it's down to whether we can come to an agreement."
