Defender looking forward to fresh start after leaving Bury
Morecambe have snapped up Paul Scott on a two-year contract after the defender was not offered a new deal by Bury.
Scott made nearly 250 appearances during six seasons at Bury, but was released at the end of the season by Shakers boss Alan Knill.
The 30-year-old feels it is the right time for a fresh start and is looking forward to the opportunity of playing for Morecambe.
"I've had six very good years at Bury, but it was probably time for a change," Scott, who was linked with a move to the Shrimps in January, told the club's
official website.
"I had a number of clubs contact me, but I always remember being coached by Mark Lillis when I was a youth team player at Huddersfield and I have always had a lot of time for him.
"I went to have a look at the new ground last week and I was excited about the prospect of playing there this season. There was a great vibe around the place and I can't wait to get going now."
Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy added: "Paul is another very experienced player at this level who will be a great addition to the squad.
"He can play in defence or midfield and is an extremely competitive player who I am sure will do very well for us."
