The 36-year-old is currently studying for his A licence coaching award and will meet with new Bees boss Mark Stimson on his return.
The defender was assistant manager to former boss Ian Hendon last year, combining these duties with a playing role.
The former Republic of Ireland defender played 26 times last term as the Bees survived a relegation scare.
