Defender preparing to leave Peterborough over the summer

Exodus Geohaghon says he has not held discussions with Crewe Alexandra over a summer move from Peterborough United. The imposing defender has been told he can leave Peterborough by new boss Gary Johnson, despite only joining the club last November. Posh director of football Barry Fry revealed last week that Geohaghon was holding talks with an unnamed League Two club, with Crewe subsequently linked with a bid. Crewe had shown an interest in the 25-year-old prior to his move to London Road, but have yet to make contact with the centre-half regarding a fresh bid.

Early days

"I've not been contacted by anyone from Crewe, but I know they were interested in me at the beginning of last season," Geohaghon told The Sentinel. "I've been told I can leave Peterborough if the price is right, but it is early days yet." The Railwaymen are in the market for a new central defender and manager Dario Gradi has confirmed Cheltenham Town's Michael Townsend is among his targets. Gradi said: "We're looking for a left-footed player who can come in at left-back. In the centre, Townsend is one we've checked on. But we've not decided on anyone yet."
