Chesterfield have signed former Norwich midfielder Simon Whaley on a free transfer.
Whaley, who has enjoyed spells on loan at Rochdale and Bradford this season, was released by the Canaries during the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old had a trial at Oldham earlier this month, but Chesterfield boss John Sheridan has moved to bring him to Saltergate.
Whaley, who has agreed a deal until the end of the season, will go straight into the squad for Chesterfield's League Two clash at bottom club Darlington this weekend.
