Southend United have offered former Everton youngster Scott Spencer the opportunity to earn a contract at Roots Hall.
Spencer is currently training with the Shrimpers and is due to feature in Tuesday's reserve-team encounter against Colchester United.
The striker is a free agent after being released by Rochdale last month, having been on non-contract terms at Spotland since the start of the season.
He made just five substitute appearances during his time at Dale and will now be out to impress Southend boss Steve Tilson.
The League One club will also look at another trialist in the reserves, with Barton Rovers defender Lee Wilson in line to play.
