Burton new boy wants to extend stay beyond January

Burton new boy Richard Jackson is aiming to impress at the Pirelli Stadium and earn a longer deal in January. Jackson switched to the Brewers on a one-month deal on Friday when former team-mate and Burton manager Paul Peschisolido asked him to step in to solve Albion's injury crisis. The defender was drafted in following injuries to Ryan Austin and Andrew Corbett and went straight into the starting line-up for the 2-2 draw against Rotherham at the weekend. Having failed to earn a contract when on trial at the beginning of the season, Jackson is now looking to impress in order to secure a permanent deal this time around.

Second thought

He told the Burton Mail: "It wasn't right for me to come in earlier in the season but when I got the phone call this time, I didn't have a second thought about coming. "This is a great little club and knowing what a good set of lads they are, I didn't hesitate to say I'd come. "I want to get back into playing in League Two and try and do as well as I can here and hopefully get a longer contract come January."
