Bury goalkeeper Wayne Brown has tipped his understudy Cameron Belford to establish himself as a League keeper.
Brown was rested for last Tuesday's 3-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Accrington, with manager Alan Knill giving Belford his first senior start.
The 21-year-old joined Bury in August 2007 after being released by Coventry and had previously made just three substitute appearances, the most recent in last month's 2-1 home win over Rotherham when Brown suffered an early knee injury.
Belford appeared to be at fault as Rotherham opened the scoring but the Nuneaton-born keeper made an excellent late save to seal victory and impressed again at Accrington.
"He's done really well," Brown told skysports.com. "I'm really chuffed for him actually.
"He's on the smaller side - 5'9" or 5'10" - but I think he's a great prospect.
"A lot of people have been wondering whether he can or can't do it but that's just because they haven't seen him play enough yet.
"I've been impressed by him in training and I don't see why he can't become a regular League keeper as long as he keeps his head down, works hard, and doesn't get distracted by other things."
